2020-2021 The Oregon Health Authority funded the TWP and allowed Day One to build capacity while addressing a critical need in 2020-2022. During the height of the COVID-19 Pandemic, Day One provided the Tech Wellness Program (TWP). Due to this crisis, children and families were faced with an unprecedented challenge, and families from our collective Black, Brown, Indigenous, Immigrant, and Refugee communities only faced an exacerbating effect compounded by already established inequities. TWP supported families most affected by assisting in technical support and navigation of services. TWP outfitted dozens of homes with tech equipment to create a more comfortable space for at-home learning, such as LED keyboards, Gamer Chairs, Gamer Headsets, LED mice, Desks, Lapdesks, and LED lights for rooms to make it "cool" to be in home learning. TWP ran a very successful virtual STEM program where we reached hundreds of kids where they were at with a "YouTube" like virtual videocast and accompanying LEGO STEM KIT program. TWP distributed $40,000 in LEGOS and STEM supplies to families in East Multnomah County and $60,000 in home supplies. The TWP was a one-of-a-kind program produced and led by Black and Brown leaders in education.
