STYLE is a mentorship-driven program where barbers, stylists, and mentors use haircare, technology, and conversation as tools for empowerment. Designed for teens and young adults, STYLE helps participants discover their confidence, leadership, and creativity in a supportive, tech-inspired environment.
In our community-based salon and makerspace settings, youth receive complimentary haircuts, braids, and styling services while engaging in meaningful conversations with EDGE mentors—licensed barbers and stylists who exemplify self-care, professionalism, and a positive self-identity. While waiting for their STYLE, participants connect with VIBE mentors, who lead hands-on experiences in Robotics, Gaming, and Digital Content Creation, using technology as a bridge for trust, curiosity, and real-world learning.
Youth showing interest or need for deeper connection are invited to work with CORE mentors, who focus on goal-setting, resilience, and long-term personal growth through ongoing mentorship, check-ins, and leadership opportunities.
STYLE blends culture, creativity, and technology to make mentorship approachable, authentic, and fun. This is a movement that builds confidence, community, and pathways for success.
In 2026, STYLE expands its mission with a renewed focus on Self-Care and Community Connection for youth ages 3–16. Through this initiative, families are invited to receive one complimentary STYLE braiding, haircut, or grooming service and the opportunity to join the ongoing STYLE Pathways Program.
Participants in the Pathways Program receive one to two STYLE sessions per month throughout the school year, combining grooming with mentorship and family engagement. During each visit, Day One Tech staff build authentic relationships with youth and families, connecting with teachers, schools, or caseworkers when needed, or simply offering a positive check-in and encouragement. Every session ensures a consistent support system that pairs new confidence from self-care with reinforced motivation and accountability for school and personal growth.
This new iteration of STYLE will be hosted at our Rockwood makerspace, our new Hazelwood site (TBA), and through community pop-ups as part of our BEE-FI project, bringing wellness, mentorship, and opportunity directly to families where they live and learn.
